I was exposed to this autobiography in middle school and found the true story inspiring. The only book that comes to mind is They Cage the Animals at Night, by Jennings Michael Burch. Be on the lookout for that video! And please send anyone interested in acupuncture our way!Ĭan you recommend a book that is important to you?

We are using this video to promote Tanya Sullivan and Daisy Ferreira's wonderful acupuncture service! It was fun collaborating with my colleagues and working together creatively.

I’ve been working on an acupuncture video, in which I use my videography skills to educate others about the benefits of this healing practice. The past 3 years I spent at Brown were valuable in teaching me about patient care, and I am proud to have achieved this milestone toward my dream career. As someone who was born with tetralogy of Fallot, I’m thankful to the healthcare team who monitored me throughout my life, and I feel that working in the medical field is the best way to pay their kindness forward. I’d also like to complete a fellowship in cardiology, in order to help patients like myself who suffer from congenital heart defects. My hope is to one day open my own practice as a nurse practitioner in family medicine. I also recently got accepted to UMass Chan Medical School, where I will learn the skills to become a Doctor of Nursing Practice. I earned my bachelor’s degree in biology and minored in chemistry at Rhode Island College. What professional accomplishment are you most proud of? As I prepare to leave Brown this August to pursue a doctorate degree, I currently assist in onboarding new staff members who will take my place, training them to navigate our system of electronic health records and teaching them the responsibilities they must tackle to become top-notch medical assistants. On the administrative side, I also answer phones and schedule medical appointments. As time flew by, I had the opportunity to join the Health Services team, recording vitals, performing waived tests, and making sure patient flow runs smoothly, working diligently to ensure that our healthcare providers’ patients are ready to be seen. Before working at Health Services, I was a clinical team lead at Advanced Clinical, managing multiple COVID-19 testing sites all over campus since 2020. I’ve been a medical assistant at Brown for 1.3 years and counting, but I’ve been involved in the Brown community for the past 3 years. Briefly describe what you do and how long you have been at Brown.
